Excellence was and still is the watch word for Tim and Bev.
“Light makes photography. Embrace light. Admire it. Love it. But above all, know light. Know it for all you are worth, and you will know the key to photography.” George Eastman
“Tim’s Templates for Posing”
Do you get stuck as you are starting a session, wondering what to do with all of those people standing in front of you, waiting for directions…from you? Remember that old commercial, “Never let them see you sweat!” Once you learn how to pose with Tim’s Posing Templates, you will never have to sweat again.
The idea behind Tim’s Posing Templates is to give you a starting point; a jumping off point. As you observe your clients, how they stand, their expressions and their body language, you will understand how to morph Tim’s Posing Templates into what is natural for that client.
Tim developed his signature style of black and white portraiture known as Relationship Portraits more than two decades ago and today, it is still as popular as it was in the beginning. Learning how to pose using these Posing Templates will get you well on your way to creating your very own black and white “Relationship” portraits.
“Photography is the easiest medium with which to be merely competent. Almost anybody can be competent. It's the hardest medium in which to have some sort of personal vision and to have a signature style.” Chuck Close
“Learn the Story and add The E-Factor”
Years ago, Tim discovered the power of the E-Factor, or the EMOTIONAL FACTOR and how it intertwined with his portraiture more and more every year. Emotion sells…emotion adds value…and emotion creates gaps. So, how do you get emotion in your imagery? And why does black and white portraiture translate emotion so well?
“Listen, but not only with your ears. Listen with your heart and soon, you will hear the story.” Bev Walden
HE LEARNED THE STORY!
Once Tim stopped being a photographer who snapped “pictures” with a fake camera smile and became a portrait artist who told the stories of his clients through his portraiture, the business completely turned around. And the E-Factor went through the roof!
Sometimes the client’s stories were sad, sometimes happy, but they always added emotion as Tim became their personal storyteller through his camera lens.
How do we know our clients’ stories? What must be in place for this high level of trust to occur? How does being a Storyteller differ from being a photographer? Learn what we do before every session that brings the desired results and helps us tell our clients’ stories.
